PrincessOne evening while we were living in Ticonderoga, New York, Lisa was gardening in our backyard when a black-and-white kitten suddenly jumped in to help out. Although she was playful, the kitten appeared unkempt and had a runny eye.

After awhile, the kitten went off but returned again the next day. She seemed hungry. So we fed her and tried to find her guardians, but no one claimed her. Finally, we realized that she was the kitten was part of a litter that belonged to a cat that lived a couple of houses down. Once the cat had her kittens, the so-called guardians let the poor things fend for themselves. Lisa and I even spoke to the husband, with kitten cradled in Lisa’s arms, and he told us he had no idea where the little kitten came from! It was obvious that he and his wife had washed their hands of her.

So we took the kitten in, named her Princess, and also took her to the vet’s. Princess was covered with fleas and her runny eye turned into a reoccurring eye infection caused by the time she was living outside fending for herself.

Lisa considers Princess the purrfect lap cat because, if she had her way, Princess would sit in your lap all day long. Princess has an inquisitive nature and also believes in “living on the edge.”
